Gain Experience in Glass Recycling Program

Abstract: Here is a program co-organised by Hou Kong Junior Chamber (濠江青年商會) and 2Gather in late April. Both parties will invite teenagers in Macau and Hong Kong to join the program to get to know more how to recycle glass bottles in Hong Kong. And HKU Postgraduate Association is honored to invite our members to join in this meaningful event!
It is known that the dumping area of Hong Kong will be full in recent years, and what makes it worse is that some wastes are non-degradable and non-recycled. In order to raise this awareness to the public and promote the action of environmental protection, a non-profit youth organization in central and western district named “2Gather (同心網絡)” pioneered to initiate a glass recycling project. The project of Glass Recycling for a Greener Tomorrow is organized by 2Gather. With a subsidy from the Environmental and Conservation Fund, glass bottles have been collected in bars and restaurants mainly in the Lan Kwai Fong and SOHO, together with large housing estates in the Central and Western District. Waste glass has been delivered to a local building material company to produce eco-pavers for road paving. The waste glass were also be fully used to be decorated into artifacts creatively.
Do you want to participate in this meaningful project? Do you want to get to know more about the details of recycling glass, how it will be transformed to eco-pavers, and how to make it to be colorful glass by painting the glass creatively? Come to join us!
